Our History
The RHIA has been active since 1947 and formally organized in 1955. Since that time, we have worked tirelessly on a number of initiatives to preserve and maintain the beauty and integrity of the district. We have:
- Helped establish and defend a 40-foot height limit for the northern waterfront.
- Opposed the North Shore Freeway and Tiburon Bridge.
- Opposed staging of “flightseeing” helicopters at Pier 43.
- Preserved the Francisco Reservoir Open Space and partnered with neighboring Associations to design and construct Francisco Park, a new public city park.
